The Kinross Superspiel is organised by one of our local curlers, Grant Barr. Teams may be all male, all female, or mixed. We hope to welcome players from all over Scotland and further afield, and encourage curlers of all ages and abilities to join in. There is space for 16 teams.
The entry fee includes at least 3 games of curling, a light supper on Friday, and lunch and dinner on Saturday.
Format
If there are 16 teams then there will be 4 groups of 4 teams (Groups 1-4), with each team playing the other 3 teams in their group. If there are less than 16 teams, there will be 2 groups (A and B) and a Schenkel system to decide the 3 games.
There will be 2 points for a win and 1 for a peel. Ranking will be on points, ends, shots up then total shots. Games are 8 ends or the bell (at 1 hour 50 minutes), apart from the finals, which will be 8 ends.
After 3 games teams will progress as follows:
4 groups of 4 - the top team in each group will go forward to the High Road and the second team to the Low Road. Teams from group 1 will play those from 3 and teams from group 2 will play those from group 4.
2 groups - the top 2 teams in each group will go forward to the High Road and the next 2 to the Low Road. The higher ranked team from one group will play the lower ranked team from the other group.
