All the while, they can enjoy breathtaking views, following in the footsteps of an ancient culture with a tradition going back centuries, preserved in local museums or captured in magnificent masterpieces from the Romanesque period.
The Gotthard region, also famous for having the world’s longest railway tunnel, is characterised by the longest historic road in Switzerland, the Tremola, which climbs the slopes on the south side of the pass, offering utterly breathtaking views.
